Doval congratulated Shamkhani on recent agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran to restore diplomatic ties.
The Indian official also described both Saudi Arabia and Iran as two important and effective countries, when it comes to regional developments, assessing the agreement as a determining step to improve stability and security in the West Asia region.
The two sides also discussed issues of mutual interests, including the talks on lifting anti-Iran sanctions, the way to remove obstacles in the way of mutual cooperation in developing Chabahar Port, as well as India’s contribution to finalizing the International North–South Transport Corridor (INSTC).
At the end of the phone conversation, Shamkhani called on his Indian counterpart to visit Iran with the aim of holding more consultations and follow up the bilateral and regional collaborations.
